The output level of Moving Coil (MC) cartridges is significantly lower than that of Moving Magnet (MM) cartridges, being approximately 10 times lower. Consequently, a special phono amplifier is required to utilize the signals effectively. This higher gain, however, can lead to increased noise levels and distortion. The MC Step Up Box S3 offers a solution to this issue.

Lively, dynamic & natural

The MC Step Up Box S3 operates distinctly from a phono preamplifier, with its gain factor determined by the transformer's windings ratio. Functioning entirely passively, it requires no external power. Voltage increase is accomplished through a corresponding decrease in current. Since there is no amplification involved, the MC Step Up Box S3 boasts exceptional noise performance and minimal distortion. The resulting sound from using a Step-Up Transformer is more lively, dynamic, and natural.
